Brian Schaeffer brings 20+ years of capital markets experience to Velocity, beginning his career as a trading clerk and growing to become a top specialist at the New York Stock Exchange. He also worked as a TV analyst on CNBC before becoming CEO of Van der Moolen Specialists, one of the largest listed global trading and technology companies, which he sold to Lehman Brothers in 2007. Brian later took over as CEO of WTS Proprietary Trading Group, which he grew to one of the largest technology-driven proprietary trading groups in the country and eventually sold to T3 in 2014. An entrepreneur at heart and an investor in InvestX, Brian was previously the Founder and President of Clearpool Group, an algorithmic trading platform, where he ran all aspects of the company’s revenue growth and business development. He helped architect Clearpool’s acquisition by the Bank of Montreal in 2020. Brian holds a BA in Political Science and a minor in Communications from the University of Rhode Island.
